My Story
My love of animals started early. I longed to live on a farm... I grew up in the country, but the only pets I was allowed to have were a tank full of fish and several years worth of adorable hamsters. I begged for a pet dog, or cat... but the answer was always "no." Even so, I had an incredible childhood that I wouldn't trade for the world.
Fast forward a few years and this cute guy I knew told me he recently acquired a puppy. When that 3 month old, fuzzy, Australian Shepherd puppy bounded toward me it was love at first sight! Long story short, I married that man and adopted my very first dog.
At that time my husband was active duty military and we were about to be transferred overseas. I went back to school and became a Certified Veterinary Assistant. I spent a total of 5 years working as a technician, the last 2 in emergency medicine. My husband's dream was to own a farm... after he retired from the Navy, he attended the prestigious Ranch Management Program at TCU. We moved back to East Texas and now live with our two precious children, 5 dogs, 6 cats, a small herd of Longhorn cattle and a flock of chickens on our small hobby farm. God has a way of working everything out in His timing! We are blessed beyond measure.
Training dogs has always been an interest of mine, especially seeing the results a professional trainer had on our Aussie years ago. So I embarked on yet another journey and attended an intense, balanced, hands-on program at Starmark Academy. I earned a Certificate as a Canine Training Specialist. I continue to be impressed with how smart dogs are and how they flourish under the correct instruction. I wish to help create the best possible relationship you can have with your pet, and help more dogs have manners. I have worked with many breeds of dogs and know each one is different. I’ll work with yours to give them the specific guidance they need. Whether you’re thinking about getting a dog, have a new pet, or already own a pet that has behavioral issues, I am here to help.
